Arnaud de Bonis born in Chateau-Gonthier (France) in 1959 , spent his childhood in Geneva (Switzerland).
By its family he knows the painting of painters like André Brasilier and Gabriel Loire
(artist in stained glass and painter)of which he is the nephew . In his youth he very much wanted to
follow his uncle as an artist in stained
glass but was persuaded to take up painting, and so he began his life as a student of art at
the college of art " Villa Arson " in Nice on the French Riviera .
Whilst as a student he assisted Bernard Pagès and Sacha Sosno then Arman in his workshop where he
remained for seven years working with other artists.
Since 1981 Arnaud de Bonis has had regular shows of his paintings. He achieved his National Diploma
(Diplôme National Supérieure d'Expression Plastique en section Art) in 1985. It was in the old town
of Nice that he set up his own workshop. During his life as an art student he made many valuable
contacts with accomplished painters such as Houssin and Eppelé who in turn introduced him to Franta.
In 1986 Arnaud de Bonis worked on a permanent basis with the International Art Gallery " Jas de la Rimade "
along with other artists such as Nicolas Lavarenne ... where they had regular exhibitions. It was
through this gallery that
Arnaud de Bonis was allowed to exhibit his work throughout Europe and it was in 1989 that
he started to make regular visits to Paris .
The Gallery Sparts gave him the opportunity to show his work to the French Capital, there collectors
took a definite interest in his paintings and have been following his work ever since.
In 1991 he left the old town of Nice and settled in a country house on the hilly outskirts of the
renowned perfume town of Grasse where he could work in more spacious and quiet surroundings .
Arnaud de Bonis is the father of three young children which brought him to animate workshops in
artistic expression for children. He now teaches the skills of drawing and painting to adults.
In 1994 Arnaud de Bonis was invited to participate
in the international exhibition to celebrate the 50th commemoration of the liberation of the
concentration camps of Dachau (Germany). An opportunity for Arnaud de Bonis to show less recent
work which was greatly appreciated by the town officials who have since acquired these paintings.
During the summer of 1996 Arnaud de Bonis was introduced to Bernard Thomel of the art gallery "
Transparence " in Biot, by an art collector . In 1999 it settles in Valbonne.
His work is mainly portraits and figures, which brought
him many private orders, until recently when he surprised his public with landscapes of rich,
luxuriant colours.
The sensitivity and texture of Arnaud de Bonis' work bring to mind names and paintings of acclaimed
artists such as Van Eyck, Arcimboldo and Egon Shiele.
